  • September - October
Overview
A winter Spiti circuit is a raw, ethereal odyssey into the "Middle Land." Starting from Shimla and Narkanda, the lush greens fade into the stark, cinematic crags of Kalpa. As you traverse the treacherous Hindustan-Tibet Road, the landscape transforms into a high-altitude white desert. Highlights include the ancient mummified monk at Gue, the cliffside Dhankar Monastery, and the frozen isolation of Kaza. Reaching Hikkim (the highest post office) and the iconic Chicham Bridge feels like standing at the world’s edge. It is bone-chilling, breathtaking, and utterly transformative. Note: Chandratal and the Kunzum Pass are typically inaccessible in winter due to heavy snow; the journey usually necessitates backtracking via Shimla or navigating the Atal Tunnel if conditions permit.
