Itinerary
Drive from eastern Kansas through Flint Hills to Branson. Hike Ruth and Mary State Park trails (waterfalls, bluffs). Evening: Table Rock Lake sunset kayak. Stay: Branson, MO
Morning: Dogwood Canyon Nature Park (tram tour, bison safari). Afternoon: Springfield – Fantastic Caverns (ride-through cave tour). Evening: Route 66 Car Museum. Stay: Branson/Springfield, MO
Drive to Ponca via Harrison. Afternoon: Buffalo River Trail (BRT) Section 1 – hike 5 miles from Ponca Low Water Bridge (bluffs, elk viewing). Camp setup. Stay: Steel Creek Campground, Ponca.
Full-day kayak Buffalo River (10 miles, Steel Creek to Ponca – rapids, gravel bars). Afternoon: Whitaker Point (Hawksbill Crag) hike (3 miles RT, iconic cliff views). Evening campfire stories.
Lost Valley Trail (2 miles RT – Eden Falls, cabins, cave). PM: Table Rock Mountain (Buffalo River side, 7 miles strenuous, panoramic bluffs). Wild swim.
